Richard Groh, President

Richard Groh is the current President of the Survive Alive House Foundation Board of Directors.

Richard Groh has been a director of the Survive Alive House Foundation since 2003.
Rich is property manager with more than twenty years of experience at firms that include Stein & Company, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Urban Innovations.

Nancy M. Schwaller, Certified Insurance Counselor

Nancy is the President of Schwaller Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency in Orland Park, founded in 1955 by her father, Ray Schwaller. The agency writes multiple lines of insurance including personal, business, life, health & retirement products. (708) 444-4000.

Nancy became involved with the Survive Alive Foundation in 1990 through her association with the Chicago Board of Underwriters. She has served has a director and secretary and is currently the vice president of the Foundation.

Dave Ryan, Treasurer

Dave has served as treasurer on the board for Survive Alive House Foundation for the past six years. Professionally, he has worked as a commercial lender for 15 years, most recently at Banco Popular for four years. Dave has an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign in International Economics and Business Administration and an MBA from Governors State University. He has previously served for a number of years as treasurer for the Lions Club in Beverly Ridge, Chicago.

Jill Friedrichs, Secretary

Jill Friedrichs has been on the Survive Alive House Foundation as Secretary for two years. She has been with the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance for 10 years. Jill is the Assistant to the Executive Director and the Treasurer.

Mary Werderitch, Director

Mary Werderitch is the Executive Director of the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. She opened the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance office 11 years ago. Mary has been on the Survive Alive House Foundation as a Director for 4 years.

Dottie Ahbe, Director

Dottie Ahbe is a retired teacher who spent 38 years with School District 87 in Berkeley, IL. Dottie has been an Appointed Director of the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance for the past 18 years. She serves as Co-Chairman of the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance Education Committee and she is the Burn Camp "I Am Me" Program Director. Dottie also serves on the Board of Directors for YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside, IL.

Pamela Anderson, Director

Pamela Anderson has been a clinical social worker for the past 4 years at the University of Chicago Burn Center, treating both children and adults who have sustained burn injuries. She is also a member of the American Burn Association and a IFSA Burn Camp volunteer.

Laura Auwerda, Director

Laura Auwerda has been in the commercial real estate lending industry for 16 years, currently as Senior Vice President/Investment Real Estate at National City Bank. Laura received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology followed by a MBA from Northern Illinois University. In the past Laura has been involved as a volunteer with Junior Achievement, Safe Passage and Literacy Volunteers.

Mark Kelly, Director

Mark is the President of Urban Innovations, a Chicago-based real estate development company with commercial office and land holdings in the River North neighborhood of Chicago and subsidized independent-living senior apartment buildings throughout the Midwest.

Laurie Oswald, Director

Laurie is Vice President Marketing and Strategy for privately-held American Color, a printing company based in Nashville. She has worked in various sales and manufacturing positions in the high-volume sector of the printing industry for 20 years. She holds an engineering degree from Purdue University and she has resided in Chicago for 15 years. In addition to residential real estate development, she also serves on the Board of the Chicago Waldorf School in her off-time and enjoys exploring the city with her young daughter.

Rick Vulpitta, Director

Rick Vulpitta is the President of the Illinois Safety Council. The Illinois Safety Council is celebrating over 80 years of safety service to industry and the community. The Mission of the Council is to "Bringing safety to people." Rick has over 25 years of safety, security and association experience.
